Vessel risk statuses
What the red and orange risk markers on vessel lists mean and how to see the reason behind them.
Every vessel list in Maritime Intelligence, including Scheduled Arrivals, Nearby Vessels, Fleets and alert results, marks each vessel with one of three statuses.
| Marker | Status | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Red icon | Sanctioned | The vessel itself appears on a sanctions list |
| Orange icon | Potential risk | The vessel is not sanctioned, but something about it warrants a look, for example recent calls at ports in a sanctioned country, or a sanctioned manager or owner |
| No icon | Regular | No risk indicators found |
Seeing why a vessel is flagged
Click the vessel to open its profile, then click Show details in the risk section. For a potential risk you might see, for example, that the vessel visited two ports in the Russian Federation. For a sanctioned vessel you see the authority, date and provisions.
Companies carry risk too
Company profiles show the same information. Open any company from a vessel’s Ownership section to see whether it is sanctioned and which of its vessels are affected. A vessel can be flagged because of its ISM manager or commercial manager rather than the vessel itself.
Hiding sanctioned vessels
In Nearby Vessels and other lists you can turn on Hide sanctioned vessels to remove red-status vessels from the view. Orange potential-risk vessels remain visible.
Searching sanctions directly
To check a name that is not in front of you, use Sanctions Search. See Check a vessel or company for sanctions.
