Established in 1968 as a producer of fishing boats, Nam Cheong Limited, often referred to as "Nam Cheong" or simply the "Group," has evolved to become a leader in the global offshore marine sector, with a focus on manufacturing and leasing Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs). This illustrious journey has led Nam Cheong to become the preeminent builder of OSVs in Malaysia, bolstered by one of the nation’s largest shipyards dedicated to OSVs.

Nam Cheong places a strong emphasis on the chartering, design, and engineering of advanced OSVs that not only meet high-quality standards but also prioritize environmental conservation. These state-of-the-art vessels are designed for the offshore oil and gas exploration and production sectors, as well as oil services industries. The Group prides itself on a diverse clientele base stretching from Malaysia to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, West Africa, Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Since 2007, Nam Cheong has accomplished the delivery of over 140 vessels, including the anchor handling towing supply (AHTS) vessels, platform supply vessels (PSVs), accommodation workboats, and accommodation work barges.

In a strategic move to diversify its portfolio, Nam Cheong ventured into the vessel chartering business in 2007. This initiative is executed through its subsidiaries, SKOSV Sdn Bhd and SKOM Sdn Bhd (previously known as SK Offshore & Marine Sdn Bhd). The Group’s fleet has since expanded to encompass more than 30 vessels, featuring AHTS, PSV, MWV, AWB, Safety Standby Vessel, and Landing Craft. Nam Cheong has transitioned from offering bareboat charters to time charters, backed by a dedicated team of professionals committed to upholding the utmost standards in quality, health, safety, security, and environmental protection.

The significant milestone of Nam Cheong’s journey was marked by its successful listing on the SGX-ST on May 27, 2011, symbolizing its recognized stature and commitment to excellence in the offshore marine industry.
