With a solid foundation in ship construction that spans four decades, South China Shipbuilding Holdings (HK) Ltd. (SCS) stands proudly as a seasoned vessel creator headquartered in Hong Kong. This esteemed organization traces its origins back to the South China Shipbuilding Group, marking a legacy of excellence and innovation in the maritime sector.

During the early 1980s, our mark was made in the industry by the establishment of the Ship Design and Research Institute located in Guangzhou, China. This institute became a pivotal center for the design of specialized maritime vessels including tugs, barges, and ships for land reclamation tailored specifically for shipowners in Hong Kong. The subsequent decade witnessed SCS emerging as a dominant force in the Hong Kong ship supply arena, significantly contributing to major infrastructure ventures like the Airport Core Project and the Rose Garden Project. Our contribution, accounting for over 90% of the maritime assets employed in these undertakings, alongside the delivery of upwards of five hundred ships to the Southeast Asian market, solidified our position as a leading ship supplier, particularly to the Singaporean and Indonesian sectors.

In a strategic move in 2005, SCS expanded its operational capabilities through the acquisition and renaming of a state-owned shipyard established in 1957 to “South China Shipyard” - a step that heralded the formation of the comprehensive “South China” shipbuilding framework. This pivotal expansion allowed us to offer an integrated suite of services encompassing design, construction, and sales, streamlining the overall experience for our diverse clientele.
