Xingang Shipbuilding

About

Establishment and Location

Founded in the year 1940 and initially recognized as Tianjin Xingang Shipyard, the establishment currently known as Xingang Shipbuilding is a prime example of China's dominant position in the maritime sector. Positioned at the vital juncture where the Haihe River merges with Bohai Bay in Xingang, Tanggu, Tianjin, the shipyard has become an indispensable center not only for ship construction and repair but also for converting vessels, undertaking offshore endeavors, and executing large-scale projects on land in the northern part of China.

Core Specializations and Capabilities

Over numerous decades, Xingang Shipbuilding has expanded its operations and now focuses on five principal areas: constructing ships, repairing vessels, manufacturing heavy machinery, engineering offshore structures, and producing vessels for public service. This diversification has sharpened the shipyard's abilities, enabling it to construct ships with a maximum weight of 500,000 tons, undertake the repair and retrofitting of ships as large as 300,000 tons, and carry out the design and production of substantial machinery for offshore platforms as well as equipment for ports.

Global Influence and Expansion

The shipyard's influence has reached worldwide, introducing its shipbuilding and repair services to clients across continents, including Asia, Europe, and America. Such international presence has nurtured strong partnerships and solidified Xingang's esteemed status in the global maritime community. A notable expansion endeavor was the inauguration of its second dry dock within the Lingang Economic Zone's Shipbuilding & Shiprepairing Base in 2012, enhancing the shipyard's capacity. This modern facility, 440 meters long and 80 meters wide, comes outfitted with high-end cranes and infrastructure, making it suitable for servicing a diverse array of vessels such as bulk carriers, container ships, and oil tankers.

Restructuring and Future Outlook

After navigating through fiscal difficulties, the establishment underwent a transformation, emerging as CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding under the umbrella of the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC). This strategic realignment spotlighted the shipyard's renewed focus on constructing larger vessels, signifying a fresh epoch in its illustrious narrative. Xingang Shipbuilding's ability to adapt and excel through periods of change reflects its unwavering dedication to spearheading innovation and achieving excellence within the shipbuilding sector.
