Nantong Tongbao Shipyard

Founded in 2005, Nantong Tongbao Shipyard has emerged as a key figure within the shipbuilding sector, nestled in the region of Jiangsu Province, China. The yard is recognized for its prowess in fabricating small to medium-sized vessels designed for offshore operations, showcasing its proficiency within the marine industry.

The capabilities of Nantong Tongbao Shipyard extend well beyond the realms of ship construction. It has proficiently branched into several other services including the trading of ships, their repair, and the processing of steel structures. This diversification allows the shipyard to offer a holistic array of services tailored to the maritime industry.

In a significant move towards expanding its business scope, Nantong Tongbao Shipbuilding entered into agreements in 2015 with Shanghai Dingheng Shipping and the Xiamen Xiangyu Group. These partnerships were aimed at the construction of eight stainless steel chemical tankers, with a total valuation close to CNY 1 billion (USD 161 million). The tankers, with capacities ranging from 2,000 to 15,000 dwt, were slated for completion and delivery in a phased manner between 2018 and 2020. This initiative represented a pivotal diversification strategy, propelling the shipyard into the arena of small and medium-sized tanker construction. This strategic move serves as a testament to the shipyard’s dynamic nature, highlighting its continuous growth and its fortified commitment towards widening its spectrum of expertise within various maritime avenues.
