For several decades, the conglomerate known as the Thoma-Sea family has been at the forefront of creating and mending premium ships catered to the demands of the commercial maritime industry.
Foundational YearsIn the dawn of 1990, Thoma-Sea Boat Builders, Inc. marked its inception with a sole facility nestled on the edge of the Intracoastal Waterway in Houma, Louisiana. It was in this setting that the Thomassie family embarked on their venture, focusing on the construction of vessels designed for brown water towing and the needs of international fisheries.
Evolution and ExpansionAs time progressed, Thoma-Sea broadened its horizons, venturing into the construction of offshore and escort tugs, along with diminutive platform supply vessels (PSVs). A significant leap occurred in January 2003 when Thoma-Sea acquired the erstwhile bankrupt Halter Shipyard located in Lockport, Louisiana. This strategic acquisition provided Thoma-Sea with the capability to undertake the construction of larger and more intricate ships, propelling them to a pivotal position within the industry.
