Positioned on the Northwest coast of North America, slightly above the border between Canada and the United States, Vancouver Drydock is nestled on the northern edge of the well-protected, deep-water Port of Vancouver. This shipyard is dedicated to delivering comprehensive, high-quality repair services, stressing the significance of releasing ships back to service promptly and within financial forecasts.
History and LocationTracing its roots back to 1902, Vancouver Shipyards underwent a significant transition in 1968, relocating from the Vancouver downtown waterfront to a specially designed, 40-acre facility located at 50 Pemberton Avenue in North Vancouver, on the North Shore of Burrard Inlet. Throughout its history, the company has maintained a commitment to excellence, building a strong reputation in the fields of designing, constructing, maintaining, and repairing a diverse array of vessels.
Repair and Fabrication CapabilitiesAt the heart of Vancouver Shipyards' repair services is a state-of-the-art SyncoLift marine elevator, boasting a capacity of 1200 tonnes. The premises boast extensive facilities, including a significant steel forming area, a spacious fabrication and assembly hall, and a 20,000 square foot paint shop that is fully enclosed and climate-controlled for the comprehensive preparation and painting of entire ships. This ensures that vessels are maintained in pristine condition, catered to under the most professional settings.
Drydocking and Machining FacilitiesThe capability of the shipyard to simultaneously accommodate multiple vessels for drydock is supported by an impressive infrastructure that includes two Lloyds registered floating drydocks. A heavy-duty machine shop equipped with dual 40-tonne overhead cranes and large-scale lathes is capable of machining shafts up to 18 metres (60 feet) in length, further emphasizing the yard’s extensive repair and maintenance capabilities.
